People have orthodontic treatment to improve the appearance, health
and function of their teeth.
We, at GC Dental, provide the most advanced techniques and treatments
in both Orthodontics and Orthopaedics.
Orthodontics is the art of straightening teeth; is the movement and
correct alignment of the teeth. When facial bones affect the positioning
of teeth, the treatment required is called Dento-Facial Orthopaedics.
Orthopaedics
means changing the size, shape, and relationship of the bones of the
face and jaws.
We, at GC Dental, specialise in the provision of both.
We offer comfortable, effective braces that are the least visible
possible:
- Normal, coloured
and stainless steel braces
- Cosmetic porcelain
(invisible) braces
- Gold braces
We also cater for those who don't fancy braces but want straight teeth.
Today, we can align teeth using thin, clear, and removable correctors
called Invisalign. When they are worn, they are almost unnoticeable
and they can be taken out whenever you want, this means that you can
eat whatever you want, and do all the things you'd normally do.
It's the goal of GC Dental to create beautiful smiles,
beautiful faces, and teeth that will last a lifetime.
People all over the world love a beautiful smile. Form, function
and appearance of the face is of vital importance. Our practices have
a special interest in the growth and development of the face.
Early diagnosis and corrective treatment of irregular growth can help
improve not just the appearance but most importantly the function
of the mouth and surrounding structures.
We believe that dentists are and should be the Gatekeepers of the
airways.
We should encourage nasal breathing and correct function of the nose
and airway passages as soon as possible. Children and adults should
breathe through their nose and not their mouths.
Nose breathing leads to a better-formed jaw, palate, posture and broad
smile with room for all your teeth.
As part of your annual examination your child’s growth will
be evaluated to identify early signs of irregular growth. The various
treatment options will be discussed with you. Remember we are all
different individuals. Growth factors vary from individual to individual.
What we eat, how we behave (thumb sucking), any illness that can delay
normal growth, the way we were born to the individual genetic make-up
we inherited from our parents, can affect form, function and appearance
of our faces.
Full face, functional orthopaedics and orthodontics is the newest
most progressive form of treatment to intercept and treat imbalance
in facial growth and development. The earlier we identify problems
the easier it is to treat.
To the lay person, the Functional Dento–Facial Orthodontic and
Orthopaedics can be described as improving the size, the shape and
the relationship of facial bones.
Functional Jaw Orthopaedics
Functional Jaw Orthopaedics (FJO) is the newest most progressive
form of orthodontic treatment. This approach treats teeth and jaws
starting at birth to manage growth, development and deformation. With
this method, various dental techniques are used in one or more phases
of treatment to give patients beautiful broad healthy smiles.
10 Great Reasons To Choose Functional Jaw
Orthopaedics
“The newest form of Orthodontics”:
1. . Attractive Faces
2 . Beautiful Broad Smiles
3 . Corrects small problems before they grow bigger
4. . Fewer “serial” extractions and overall extractions
5 . Active treatment at age 2
6 . Adult treatment at all ages
7 . Healthier jaws and joints-TMJs
8 . Balances bad bites
9. May prevent surgery
10. Powerful dental treatment with positive life
long effects
Numerous adults are treated at the practice for imbalances in their
jaws and associate teeth.
In almost all of them earlier childhood treatment to correct imbalances
would have made it so much easier. It is with this experience that
Dr. Visser feels passionately that children should be treated as early
as possible. We are fortunate to have a highly experienced in-house
Cranio osteopath who assists in our treatments to correct facial imbalances.
We treat patients of all ages from newborns
to mature adults.
In most cases this correction can be accomplished with functional
removable orthopaedic appliances as opposed to surgery. Removable
orthopaedic appliances can achieve remarkable corrections. We use
these kind of appliances to correct the jaw bone prior to correcting
the teeth. Once we have corrected these jawbone discrepancies we will
concentrate on the balance between the jawbone, the jaw joint and
the teeth. Most of us understand that the term orthodontics means
the movement and the correct alignment of teeth. We use fixed braces
(‘train tracts’) to help us achieve this. These brackets
act as individual handles that help us to move teeth. We can also
use clear braces for individual teeth.
Our goal is to provide you with personal treatment of the highest
standard utilising modern equipment and superior materials. Our clinical
endeavour is backed by superior laboratory services and technical
support.
We assess the needs of each patient individually so we can then tailor-make
a treatment plan to specifically suit your needs; we want you to be
actively involved in the planning of all your treatment.
